SBTRKT - SBTRKT (UK)
The self-titled debut album from London based SBTRKT is an inspiring album with an eclectic mix of dubstep, UK funky, soul, house, R&B and two-step. This is a pretty chilled-out album with not a splash of grime to be found! It’s the kind of album that tries to portray a certain emotion to the listener.
My favourite track on this album would have to be the very popular track Wildfire. It has a charming kick to it with a smooth wonky dub bassline and supreme vocals of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano. Another much-loved track of mine is Right Thing to Do, a real dub/two-step hybrid combined with vocals from Jessie Ware. You might know her from Joker’s track The Vision.
Sampha is SBTRKT’s main vocalist who appears on five tracks throughout the album. I really enjoyed this album and SBTRKT’s skill in this clever produced album is amazing. The album also comes on vinyl (limited availability).
