Love Fashion Music with Leo Styles

In August most people in Europe go on holiday, for Leo Style; I’m stuck in the styling rooms, on location and backstage! I’m thrilled NZ Fashion week is approaching and can’t wait to see designer creations being strutted around fiercely! I’m amped for The Fashion Week 'Weekend' and of course The Wrap Party! I will be first in line at The Sunday Star-Times Designer Garage Sale; I was so stoked with last year’s bargains, a purchase is so much better when you save a few buckaroos if ya ask me!

What’s Hot

Fashion and style keeps our lives interesting and colourful! It’s been said that people that are fashion conscious are not only highly creative in nature, but also smarter than your average Joe (wink wink). Moreover, how one dresses reflects the individual’s tastes and preferences in life, a mini visual bio of who they are! But what is currently trending in the fashion scene and becoming more a living form of a fashionable accessory is tattoos. From catwalks to billboards, magazines and advertising, models with tats are popping up everywhere. Are tats the new fashion fad? No virgin to getting ink myself I decided to track down Auckland’s 'oh so hot right now' Tattoo artist Ray Zink. Ray Zink is in heavy demand inking some of NZ's coolest such as muso's Vince Harder and Sidney Diamond extending to TV personalities, sports stars and more. With a Thai and Israeli background, Zink has an appreciation for arts and cultures and believes that people should look beyond just the picture and focus more on the meaning behind it. Ray Zink concentrates heavily on the fit and flow of the tattoo, which he says is the most important part of the process. When asked 'Are tats the new black?', Zink rationalised that although they look pretty wicked, tattoos have significance to their owner and serve to remind people of particular times in their lives. So this month, I'm giving my ‘big up’ to the trendsetters who don INK! Every little number I get branded on myself is a lil’ 'F#$K YOU' to those who say I shouldn’t get them, and for me they definitely a part of my personal style!
You can find Ray Zink at @ Monk3ys, 84 Gunner Drive, Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland.

Fashion Stalk

Rob Johnson is a hot blooded singer, songwriter and producer, emerging onto the scene with impeccable talent and charisma. His sound is an electric fusion of RnB, Funk, Soul & Hiphop. I was blown away with his vocals that are reminiscent of the likes of Trent D'arby, meets Prince with a twist of modern Justin Timberlake! Every time I have caught up with this cat I am in awe of his steez. Exhibiting hooded waistcoats, to gracefully aged leathers with studs and spikes, to geeky accessories and bow ties, Johnson pushes fashion boundaries while still projecting a sense of a lil Emo and darkness in his style! MY KINDA CLIENT! Check out his seriously sick music at www.roblemmesip.com  Bubblegum and his latest banger Lemme Sip are sooooo my jams right now!

Must Have

So eyebrows are like my thing! I believe they frame the face and good brows are a MUST! However there are some shockers out there, for both ladies and gents, ones that I nickname sperm brows, hockey stick brows or slug brows. I keep my brows in check usually by filling them in and shaping them with a brow powder. But this was a temporary fix for me; I woke up one day and was like Gah! I’m sick of the on-going effort to keep them looking gorge! So, I decided to make them permanent. Whether you want to enhance the shape of your brows or fill them in, permanent cosmetics not only look fab they will save you so much time! Imagine the convenience of perfectly placed brows that won’t end up on your forehead after a night out! Getting mine done really boosted my confidence and appearance! They typically last an average of two-five years, I was given a numbing product and it was pretty much pain free! I love the results!

Permanent cosmetics are ideal for anyone who is:

  • Currently using eyebrow pencils, eyeliner or lip liner.
  • Allergic to conventional cosmetics
  • Finding it difficult to apply makeup due to a visual or physical impairment
  • Wanting to camouflage a scar or recreate an areola after a mastectomy
  • Wanting to save time putting on make up

I’m off to make B’day plans, considering treating myself to Rarotonga, who’s keen? Special shout out to all the LEO's sharing a birthday with me this month ROCK ON! Remember age only matters if you are a piece of cheese!
