Young & Restless with Reuben V

The Edgetravaganza in Hamilton and the Nightcap All Ages event in Auckland were two of the highlight events of July and a tremendous way to kick off the school holidays in style.

Dusting off the textbooks is a must, as with a new month brings a new school term. However it’s not all hard work and no play in August, the new month sees no shortage of events for the all age masses of Aotearoa.

The Smokefree Pacifica Beats kick off into 5th gear with regionals finals taking place across Auckland, Whangarei, Wellington & Christchurch. The event is a “nationwide music competition that encourages young people to create and perform their own original, contemporary music” and is a huge platform for our nations budding young singers and songwriters.

The highlight of this month however has to be the grand finals of the secondary school dance competition – Bring It On. Thirteen of the best secondary schools compete to take home the glory of being crowned the 2011 champions. Catch all the action at the Trust Stadium, Waitakere on the 6th of August.

Continuing on the artistic and creative tip, Zeal West in Henderson plays host to Beyond Confinement, an art expo that provides young college artists to display their art in public. Coupled with acoustic bands to provide the perfect vibe throughout the course of the evening and most importantly the entry is free
