We are nearly halfway through the year, menumaggerlings! And this seems to be the perfect time to get some structure into the H-City news. From now on we will have 3 sections: ‘Where’s the party at?’ to inform about upcoming events. ‘Who’s that girl (or guy)?’ to introduce an amazing H-City person. “What’s that sound?” to let you guys know about the hottest sounds out there at the moment with one of our DJs or producers.
Where’s the party at ? Just when we thought we could get a breather after ‘Our:House’, ‘Noise Control’ and ‘Borgore’ -the ‘Soundscape’ line-up has been announced. And it is huge! There will be ‘Dem Slackers’ from the Netherlands, ‘Nadisko’ from Oz, ‘Octane & DRL’ make the trip from the UK. Some of NZ’s best artists and DJ’s will make an appearance; from ‘Ric Rush’ to ‘Aural Trash’, ‘Sheldon Ives’ to ‘Tiki Taane’ and ‘Downtown Brown’ from ‘Sunshine Sound System’. There are too many (over 40 in fact) to name them all. Check out www.fevah.co.nz for all details and info. Fevah will once again be hosting the hard dance zone featuring Australian top DJ and producer ‘Jody6’ playing alongside legend ‘Eamonn Fevah’, Auckland’s ‘David Ding’ & ‘Sheldon Ives’, Wellingtons ‘Strike & Hooverlicious’ as well as local rising star ‘Ryan Matthews’ and ‘Kane Hall’; H-City’s angriest ginga. See you all at ‘MonkeyFeather’ on the 16th of July! Everyone knows the H-City crewlikes to party; so we are going to take over ‘Area6’ (old space) on Saturday, 11th June to celebrate mine & Tommy G’s birthday with “Dr Suess kicks your drum.” The event will showcase the best local talent, such as Hamilton DJ’s Tonik DJ’s, ‘Tommy G’, ‘Hyperkaine’, Ryan Matthews and more. Alongside an Auckland-All-Stars crew consisting of ‘Manik’, David Ding, ‘Abbra & Haze’, ‘Mobilityscooter’, ‘Audiosmith’, ‘MrGeez’ and a whole bunch of other great peeps.
Who’s that girl? It’s so great to see how many people have unlimited passion and love for music. Like Hamilton girl Janelle Kleinhans Matchett, who has made it her focus to bring the biggest ever line-up of international ‘Hard House’ legends to NZ. And she has succeeded. In less than 10 weeks ‘Andy Farley’, ‘BK’, ‘K90’ and Steve Hill will touch down in NZ to play together at the ‘London Reunion.’ Other big names include Steve Norrie, Eamonn Fevah, Steve Ryan and Grant Thomson. What a monster line-up! And it’s all thanks to the perseverance of one tiny woman! Keep your eyes on our website for everything you need to know.
What ’s that sound? We are very proud to announce that Tommy G has joined forces with Fevah FM. Tommy G has been a well-recognised name in the New Zealand Club scene for quite some time. Besides the meanest breaks, Tommy can serve up anything thanks to his flawless mixing skills and constant quest to find new and daring ways to fuse a variety of genres. He has also ventured into the world of production, so we can expect big things from this guy.
