Ministry of Sound

Gidday gidday how are we and welcome to another edition of the lil old MOS corner of Menu mag.
Plenty to talk about this month and thank god we’re shaping up for summer, as it seems winter has gone on too long...!

First of all, thanks to everyone that came along to the Annual 10 year classics party! Was a great night and if you haven’t got your copy of such a seminal CD make sure you grab yours now as its something any dance music purist should have in their collection ;-)

As we mentioned it’s warming up and what better way to celebrate this than the release of ‘Clubbers Guide to Spring’. Mixed by everyone’s favorite Sydneysider Goodwill and the lovely to the eye and ear Anna Lunoe, Clubbers Guide to spring has to be THE coolest MOS compilation I have seen come out in a long long time.

Not only does the tune packed double contain all the usuals, including big hits from Example, Swedish House Mafia, Adele, PNAU, and everyone’s favorite boyfriend of Paris Hilton Afrojack, it varies it up with cool cuts from the likes of Zombie Disco Squad, SBTRKT, Green Velvet, Skream, and DJ Fresh, making it perfect for both the hands-in-the-air rave fan and the discerning chin stroking clubber. Seriously the compilation is so well balanced throwing it on at a pre-summer BBQ or house party will rarely get complaints from even the biggest armchair athletes such is the diversity spanning from both CDs, I highly recommend the purchase and would actually do so myself if I wasn’t so lucky to be blessed with an advance copy that is now been thrashed in car and home!

In other news to touch on Examples new album has dropped, jam packed full of party bangers that will give Calvin Harris a hell of a run for his money. His rapping may not quite be Jay-Z but the production and lyrical thought of the tracks is what shines in this, proving that he really is one of the next dance pop superstars of 2011…

And speaking of superstars, Wretch 32 is a name you probably haven’t heard of yet, but I GUARANTEE you will be singing his praise 6 months from now having listened to what he has on offer! What are you on about I hear you shouting, well W32 in sort of a hybrid Dizzee Rascal cum Major Lazer one man band, who is absolutely blowing the hell out of the UK charts at the moment with hits coming out of his ears and eyeballs! With such an infectious sound and remix heat from all the big players of the scene, Wretch 32’s debut album is set to drop here next month and I have no doubt it will strike a hearty chord with the NZ market and he will end up being a housegod in the most fickle music market (Aoteroa) in no time flat!

That’s all for this month kids, catch you next month for some seriously big party announcements!
