Magazines // October 2011 // The Dark Beat with Dilby
September was an action packed month, phew, lots of fun and late nights! The weather is warming up and the coming rave season is on the horizon.
I had a great night at Elsewhere in Nelson with Technique Tour and look forward to many more as the sunshine comes once more. Sonny Fodera really turned it on for his gigs in Auckland and Tauranga last month with some calling it the “house night of the year”.
What Happened To The Techno? rocked Sandwiches again in September with great sets from everyone. It is becoming one of the best 4/4 nights in the country with consistent boundary pushing music. If you haven’t hit it yet, you owe it to yourself to get there. Do just that on October 15th when it all happens again. See you on the d-floor!
Deep Wire is a cool new night every Thursday at the terrace bar in Wellington with the best underground deep house played by Sotes, Schille.M and Amy Jean. High Calibre 2 is hitting Garden Club on the 1st for loads of tech house and prog with Souladelic, Danny Boy, Empyre, Hey Lady and more inc Hoki (BOP FM). You can catch Hoki playing regularly at Buddha Lounge (8th and 15th Oct). Also hit up Buddha Lounge’s ninth birthday on the first. SonicTronic is back on the 7th with showcasing the forthcoming Ditto and Robot Humour Joint EP out soon on Tulipa. Noize Control Halloween hits 519 Superclub on the 29th featuring tech house sensations Pleasurekraft (SWE/USA) with support from U-Khan, Tom McGuinness, Jamie White, Ditto and more - this will sell out!
Sebastian Wild hits the road for his annual Half Wild: NZ Carnivalesque Tour with Christchurch on the 14th, Nelson 15th, Tauranga 22nd and Hamilton 29th. www.halfwild.com.au for info. My Technique Tour comes to an end with Schnapps in National Park on the 1st with one of the countries most exciting new DJ’s in support; Sebastian. Don’t miss it. A massive thanks to Skull Candy for supporting the tour!
Also, look out for Tim Richards’ hot new release on Housekeeping. MASSIVE!
