Magazines // September 2011 // Young & Restless with Reuben V
In a quick recap of the highlight event of August, Massey High School were crowned champions of the Bring it On dance competition. An honour well deserved, proving beyond doubt that the hours of practice, determination and commitment separated them from second placed Mount Albert Grammar.
September is quite possibly the biggest month of the 2011 calendar year. Rugby world cup fever hits a peak on the 9th of September with the official opening ceremony taking place at Eden Park as well as celebrations taking place on the waterfront with fireworks and live performances.
Another highlight event or festival rather of the month is the launch of the highly anticipated 3 week long Neon Break Festival. Feed Me arrive to headline ‘The Taster’ event at Studio on the 30th of September, coincidently being their first ever show in New Zealand and it will be large.
YMCA Mt Albert is hosting its regular “Dub Fusion” night on the 2nd of September featuring a lineup of upcoming DJs. For more information visit the YMCA website or contact them directly.
As we say goodbye to one season we welcome another, the first of the events for the new spring season takes us all the way down south. On the 25th September, Dunedin's talented Youth Orchestra, conducted by acclaimed New Zealand composer and musical director Anthony Ritchie presents a Spring Concert at the Otago Boy's High School Auditorium.
